How to influence behaviour – in a car park

What’s the best way to get people to do what you want the to? Shout? Nag? Plead? This sign I saw in a supermarket car park was obviously written by someone who gave it some thought. Instead of just asking customers to return their trolleys, this one suggests what will happen to their customers’ time and property if they don’t. It subtly says return your trolleys – otherwise they’ll get in the way and it will take longer for you to park next time.
